About Checkers
Checkers is a free classic board game you can play in your browser on phone and desktop, with no download or sign-up. This is English draughts on an 8x8 board. Captures are forced, multi-jumps chain in one turn, and any man that reaches the far row is crowned a king that moves both ways. Play the computer on easy, medium or hard, or pass the device to a friend for a two-player game.
- Controls
- Click or tap a piece, then a highlighted square. Keyboard: arrows to move, Enter to select, U to undo, N for a new game.
- Length
- 15 min per round
Tips
- Captures are forced, so use them as bait. Offer one piece to pull an enemy piece into a double jump.
- Keep your back row filled for as long as you can. It stops your opponent from crowning kings.
- Control the center squares. Pieces in the middle have more options and are harder to trap.
